The Class A Barber License will allow the cosmetologist to increase their skillset. Through this course students will acquire soft and hard skills in order to excel in today's dynamic barbering industry. During the 300 hour in depth practices course, students at TBEA will aspire to become well educated licensed barbers. Upon completion, students will be prepared to pass the state board exam, both written and practical. Through the journey of the course they will learn barbering principles, barber laws and rules, and common safe practices.
This program focuses on the whole subject of Barbering and Hairstyling. The program is designed and developed to provide students the skills and knowledge required to pass the State Board Licensing Examination and for maintaining a successful employment as a barber. This includes preparing students for entry level positions in the barber industry in such occupations as hair stylist, hair colorist, chemical applicators, specialists for men's facial and shaving procedures, barber salon ownership, barber salon management, and barber product sales representatives. The Program consists of three hundred hours (300 Clock Hours) of theory instruction and practical operations covering the art of barbering. The duration of the program is Full-time 3 Months.

The students will get the instruction of theory from the Milady Standard Barbering, 6th Edition. The course will be presented through comprehensive material which includes chapter by chapter lesson plans that include power point slides with photos and illustrations from the textbook. Instruction may be taught through activities involving group dynamics, projects, guest speakers, hair shows, and community events.
A student’s overall grade will be determined by a percentage scale and will be calculated on a monthly basis. Students must maintain a 70 percent grade or above in order to meet with a satisfactory passing grade. Students may make up failed or missed tests and incomplete assignments. Students will have a one-week deadline to make up any tests or assignments. Some tests will require classroom and or practical participation in order to receive a grade. Grade averages will be calculated by the sum of the total test grades divided by the number of total number of tests.
Theory Grading Scale:
90 – 100 A= EXCELLENT
80 – 89 B= VERY GOOD
70 – 79 C= SATISFACTORY
60-69 D= NEEDS IMPROVEMENT
59 F= Failed

1. Operator to Class A Barber requires to have a Cosmetology Operator License
2. Must be at least 18 yrs of age or older
3. Possess a High School Diploma, GED, or at least 7th Grade level completed must provide transcript from highest level completed
4. Provide a National Identification or Military Discharge Identification or the State of Texas Identification, and a Social Security Card
5. Provide 2 passport size pictures
6. Provide completed admission application
7. Provide transcripts from previous schools if any
8. Provide 2 contact references
9. Attend an interview with the Admissions Officer
In order for a student to graduate from The Barber Education Academy they are required to pay their tuition balance in full, meet with all the academic requirements, and must complete all the required hours for the program they are enrolled. Upon completion of the course students are illegible to take the State Board Barber Written and Practical Exam in order to receive a Class A Barber License.
